Call to action

The #TADF Whole Solution (WS) advocacy campaign primarily and proactively engages with training providers (including student experience/EDI leads), tutors, and students to influence moving the curriculum toward one in which social context, normativity/difference, and equity are embedded from day one by design, using the open Wholeness Solution resources and tried and tested induction-day pedagogy. That does not mean advocacy cannot exist elsewhere too e.g., in communities or organisations.

#TADF has reduced barriers to adoption as all training resources, images, guidelines and train the trainer are available free ondemand as well as free ongoing support through the #TADF community.

If you are considering advocating for #TADF. As an individual, tutor, or community organisation Join Our Network.

The WS is relevant to all helping professions (e.g., social services, organisational EDI, psychology), although the initial focus is on counselling, psychotherapy, and coaching. To reach training providers, course leads and tutors we need to a) gather more advocates e.g., tutors, allied communities, and students b) expand social and institutional contacts and networks to socialise the solution and gather interested parties in training organisations.

In view of this this page contains a non-definitive ideas list of things we can do to advocate within own or wider domain. Advocacy falls into three areas 1) Public awareness, socialisation, and signposting which in turn may lead to 2) Finding interested advocates and 3) Finding and engaging with training staff who wish to adopt WS. Advocates develop use and improve their own network of contacts and support each other within the #TADF WS advocacy group.

1/Public awareness, socialisation and signposting (Usually Light touch – requires little effort. most can do)

  1. Follow, comment on, and share social media (linkedin particularly) posts to help improve reach from:
    1. LinkedIn: LinkedIn
    2. Facebook: Facebook
    3. Instagram: Instagram
  2. Create your own social media posts, blog, articles, about the Wholeness Solution, the book, and the free resources, including learner and train-the-trainer materials. You can link and use descriptions from the website: tadf.co.uk
  3. Email or speak to anyone you know about the Wholeness Solution, especially tutors, training programme leads, providers, organisation EDI departments, and voluntary sector bodies. An email template for adaptation can be found here.
  4. Add information to your website or write on social media about #TADF aims, the new introduction to counselling book, and include links to tadf.co.uk and the #TADF logo. You may also wish to add resources from the website, either through direct links or by hosting the documents yourself. These two resources may be of particular interest:

[a] Embedding Context, Identity, and EDI in Training: Guidance for Provision, Design and Delivery

[b] Whole Experience and Whole Relationship Model Reference Cards

2/ Develop advocacy network further. More advocates multiplies chances of reaching training providers and other influential communities (Usually Light touch – requires little effort. most can do)

Reach out to potential advocates in your own community groups, social media, or wider. Email individuals, community groups, or social enterprise organisations that may be interested in advocating for #TADF aims. Ask them to join the whatsapp group (they can always opt-out later). Find sources of groups of interest e.g., communities focused on diversity, sociopolitics, climate change, tutor groups etc.

3) Finding, engaging and suppporting training staff to influence curriculum change

Meet with tutors, course leads, and training directors to discuss the solution highlighting the need, SCOPED requirement, and accessible and low cost WS Solution being offered. Email newintro@tadf.co.uk for backup support on meetings.
